Skiing, the way it
used to be...
Lake City Winter Wonderland

Built in 1966, the Lake City Ski Hill was originally
called "Lake City Winter Wonderland."  Read more
about the Lake City Ski Hill story at the
Colorado Ski
History site.

Our Sister Ski Areas

If you're feeling nostalgic about your childhood skiing
days, you might want to make a few runs at the Lake
City Ski Hill, or at one of our "sister" ski hills in the
region.  A lot of people learned to ski, and still learn to
ski, at areas like:

Cranor Hill in Gunnison
Chapman Hill and Hesperus in Durango
Howelsen Hill in Steamboat
Lee's Hill in Ouray
Kendall Mountain in Silverton

Some folks out there think we are all lost, but unlike
the many lost areas of New England and the midwest,
most of us are thriving in our own ways, surviving
mainly because local town governments operate the
lifts and warming huts.

We're particularly fond of
Kendall Mountain over in
Silverton, where we bring our Hinsdale Ski Team
members now and then.  (No, we don't ski over
Engineer Pass to get there)

The Silverton Ski Team comes over here, too, and we
have a great time discovering that we have a lot in
common by tenaciously holding on to our upstart "lost"
ski areas!
